The Young Church
The parish will support young people in discovering their uniqueness and encourage participation in Church and Parish activities to enable them to deepen their relationship with God and His family.Young people and their families need to know and feel that they belong to and have a real part to play in the Church. We will develop inclusive programmes and activities for young people in our parish, encompassing all ages from birth to parenthood. Parish involvement in the school activities and programmes will better facilitate personal and spiritual development and complement rather than duplicate some of our resources. This means close links with both St Brendan's School and the secondary schools, St Patrick's College and Sacred Heart College (links are placed on our website). We will invite and support young people to participate in ministry roles as well as encourage adults to assist/mentor leaders and young people. We will support leaders involved with young people of the parish. This may include specific training or support, e.g. study for Certificate in Youth Ministry, or administrative support. We will encourage young people to participate in Catholic/Christian value-based organisations and events such as World Youth Day, Archdiocesan Youth Ministry, regional youth masses, Odyssey, Parachute, Jesus 4 Real, Hearts Aflame, etc. This may require us to contribute financial or practical assistance.
